What does an implant means?
An implant is an artificial titanium root that is put on the either top or bottom maxillary bone. Its main function is to:
– Support crowns or dentures.
– Replace missing teeth or when they are in deteriorated condition.
Procedure to put an implant:
To put an implant is a very meticulous technique and it is always adapted to the dental necessities and conditions on each patient.
1. Diagnose
Before putting in the implant, is very important to study the bone and gum quality from the patient. It is, therefore, necessary to take a three – dimensional x ray (tac Dental) in order that the best course of action can be implemented.
2. Putting in the implant
Is a simple and painless procedure. Is done at the dental clinic with local anaesthetic. Sometimes patients are scared of the procedure and in this situation, we can use sedation to make the experience absolutely satisfactory. At this phase, is very important to take the medication that the Doctor prescribes.
3. Healing
The stiches are removed between 7-10 days after the surgery. We have to leave time for the bone integration. The time for this takes is approximately 3 months to ensure that the implant is accepted by the bone. During this time, the patient could wear a provisional denture.
4. Put the definitive crown or denture
After the bone integration is possible to make the definitive denture or crown for the patient.
5. Maintenance
We explain to the patient the correct hygiene technique to keep the implants in the best condition. To avoid any problem that could result in loss of the implants, it is necessary to check the implant every 6 -12 months and to keep it in good condition. This depends on each patient.

Implants advantages:
- Is the most secure option to replace a missing tooth.
- High durability through the time.
- Improve patient’s self-esteem, increasing their confidence.
- It provides a chewing function as similar as possible to the natural one.
PRP Technology
What is the PRP technology?
Is an autologous procedure. That means that is done extracting a blood tube from the patient, then this blood is centrifugated. Finally, we obtain different components (platelets, red globules, plasma…). The used part is the one which is rich in plasma. It is where the growth factors are. These factors are responsible on the tissue’s regeneration.
What are the advantages on using the PRP with the implants?
Platelets release growth factors which regulate the healing cascade by signalling to surrounding cells to repair damaged tissue and regenerate new tissue.
- Grow factors speed up the tissues healing procedure making the healing quicker.
- Inflammatory reaction reduced or even non-existent.
- Painless after the surgery or basically minimum.
- Reduces the risk of infection.
- It helps to the bone regeneration helping the implant to be accepted by the
patient´s bone.
